Uwe Zeutzheim studied piano, chamber music, and song accompaniment in Mainz, Hanover, and Frankfurt with Gerhard Niess, Wolfgang Schamschula, Burkhard Schaeffer, Klaus Storck, and Charles Spencer. In addition, he attended numerous master classes, among others with Menahem Pressler (Beaux Arts Trio). As a scholarship holder at the Hanover University of Music, he participated in the “Internationale Musiktage” in Hitzacker.

Since then, he has regularly performed at home and abroad—in the USA, Finland, Poland, Italy, Greece, France, Switzerland, and Turkey—as a sought-after accompanist, chamber music partner, and soloist. He has contributed to television, CD, and radio productions (including for SWF, SR, and BR).

He accepted several invitations to the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland, where he collaborated with renowned artists such as Tom Krause and Jorma Hynninen. On the initiative of the Goethe-Institut, he has been a guest lecturer on German art song at the State Conservatory in Ankara. At the invitation of the German Foreign Office, he performed regularly in Bonn and Berlin, as well as in Poland, including Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 413 at the Philharmonic Hall in Opole. In 2010 he appeared at the “Kulturfestival Boppard” with Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto, accompanied by the Peter Cornelius Symphony Orchestra of Mainz.

In addition, he is regularly active as a juror at various competitions.

Course Description:

This course is aimed at ambitious pianists who wish to further develop their self-chosen and prepared program over the course of a compact weekend through both active and passive instruction.

The workshop is not intended as a substitute for regular one-on-one lessons, nor is it designed to lure away talented pianists. Rather, it can serve in particular as targeted preparation for concerts or competitions – including Jugend Musiziert 2026.

Young students and piano pupils preparing for entrance examinations can also benefit from Uwe Zeutzheim’s extensive experience in this field. If desired, personal guidance regarding study opportunities and admission requirements at the Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz is available. The course also provides an excellent platform for students and piano teachers who wish to continue their professional development.

The course concludes with a joint piano concert, in which the results are presented to the public.

Uwe Zeutzheim, a native of Boppard on the Middle Rhine, leads a piano class at the renowned Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz, working with dedicated pupils, young students, and advanced students alike. Numerous national and international competition successes by his students testify to his effective teaching.

A trusting, fear-free atmosphere forms the foundation of his pedagogical work, offering space for individual and creative development. Awakening enthusiasm and passion for music and for a composer, and jointly discovering paths to sonic and musical expression, are central impulses for engaged and expressive piano playing.

Tailored to each individual’s strengths and potential, and based on a solid technical foundation, Uwe Zeutzheim places particular emphasis on authentic, natural expression and a colorful, nuanced piano tone—key prerequisites for a style of playing that feels narrative and alive.
