The Catalan cellist Roger Morelló Ros (b. 1993) combines an intense concert career with a profound dedication to pedagogy. He is a University Lecturer for Bachelor and Master degree programs at the SRH University Berlin, a Pre-College teacher at the Junge Streicherakademie Mainz (in cooperation with the Mainz University of Music), and serves as an assistant to Prof. Maria Kliegel at the Euro Arts Academy. Furthermore, he regularly gives masterclasses at renowned institutions and festivals (such as Berkeley in the USA, the Andantino Cello Festival in China, and Musiktage am Rhein, Musikakademie Schloss Weikersheim, and the Internationaler Meisterkurs Heidelberg in Germany, among others) and serves as a jury member for competitions such as the state-level Jugend musiziert in Germany.

He initially studied in his homeland with David Blay and Damián Martínez before moving to Germany.

Supported by the Deutschlandstipendium as well as the Humboldt and Güell foundations, he pursued his Master’s degree and Konzertexamen (Soloist Diploma) with Prof. Maria Kliegel at the University of Music in Cologne, completing both with highest honors. Additionally, he has refined his skills through masterclasses with renowned cellists such as Frans Helmerson, Peter Bruns, Troels Svane, Raphaël Pidoux, Leonid Gorokhov, Claudio Bohorquez, and Steven Isserlis.

As a laureate of over 30 competitions and scholarships, he has performed as a soloist with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, the Landesjugendorchester Rheinland-Pfalz, and the Liangshan Symphony Orchestra. He has concertized in major venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Friedrichsforum Bayreuth, the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, and the Suzhou Bay Grand Theatre in China. His concert activities have also led him to prestigious festivals such as the Bachfest Leipzig, Schumannfest Düsseldorf, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Life Victoria Barcelona (Sant Pau – UNESCO), and the Verbier Festival.

He has released several internationally acclaimed albums: The Voice of Casals (IBS Classical – SWR), Schumann goes Tango (Austrian Gramophone), and Founders Trio (Hänssler Classic), which have received outstanding international reviews and multiple nominations.

In his teaching, he places special emphasis on a conscious and highly efficient technique that allows for precise and free playing. His focus lies on the development of a warm, personal sound and the connection between body, mind, and emotion to achieve the best possible interpretation.
