Es handelt sich um eine Auftragskomposition f\u00fcr den<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Comte<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Alexis Pillet-Will (1805\u20131871) und dessen Frau Louise Pillet-Will, der das Werk gewidmet ist.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Albert Lavignac<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>leitete die Auff\u00fchrung vom<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Harmonium<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>aus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Die Messe steht ihren \u00e4u\u00dferen Ausma\u00dfen und auch dem Namen nach in der Tradition der<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><i>Missa solemnis,<\/i><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>wurde aber dennoch vom Komponisten mit dem Attribut<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><i>petite<\/i><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>(\u201eklein\u201c) bedacht. Rossini schreibt dazu in einer ironischen Widmung: <i>\u201eLieber Gott. Hier ist sie, die arme kleine Messe. Habe ich nun wirklich heilige Musik<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>(musique sacr\u00e9e)<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>gemacht, oder doch vermaledeite Musik<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>(sacr\u00e9e musique)? Ich bin f\u00fcr die<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>Opera buffa<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>geboren. Du wei\u00dft es wohl! Ein bisschen K\u00f6nnen, ein bisschen Herz, das ist alles.
