Now, in the fifth year since its inauguration, the festival is traveling to China, Germany and Italy while extending to a new UK residence in Rugby School with state-of-the-art facilities. Piano Week comes to Sankt Goar International Music Fesitval and Academy for the first time in February 2017. Taking place in a beautiful 1892 villa on the bank of the Rhine river, this four-day residency offers participants of all ages and abilities an opportunity to study with a distinguished faculty of concert pianists in an intimate and inspiring setting. There are two options available:

Residential full-time course
Non-residential full-time course

Residential participants will enjoy modern twin bedrooms (with separate bathrooms) in the beautifully restored 1892 Gründerzeit villa in which the festival takes place. Guests will also have spacious and well equipped kitchens at their disposal. Breakfast and lunch are included. Alternatively, single bedrooms can be arranged in hotels nearby.

Sankt Goar is located within easy reach of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (40 minutes by car) and Frankfurt International Airport (60 to 90 minutes by train, 70 minutes by car). The town has its own rail station with services to Frankfurt (Hbf), Mainz (Hbf) and Koblenz. Other cities which can be reached within a 90-minute drive include Cologne, Wiesbaden, Mannheim and Heidelberg.

British pianist, artistic director & founder of Piano Week, Samantha Ward, has performed extensively around the UK and abroad, appearing on British television and radio several times. She made her Wigmore Hall debut in 2007 and has won numerous competitions and awards in the UK, performing in major venues such as St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. John’s Smith Square, Cardiff’s St. David’s Hall and Manchester Bridgewater Hall.

In 2017, Piano Week will take place in China, Germany and Italy as well as at Moreton Hall and Rugby Schools in the UK. At the 2015 and 2016 festivals, Samantha performed works for two pianos with world renowned pianist Stephen Kovacevich in the closing recitals. Samantha is a Blüthner artist and a recording artist for Schott Music publishers.
